Forum rules and how to report a post
CarnadoCarnado team
The forum is for people who want help with buying, selling, servicing and the paperwork around a car. The full rules are on the page Forum rules, here is what matters.
Who writes. Anyone can read. You can write if you have an account with a confirmed e-mail and a chosen nickname. Posts show only the nickname, not your name or e-mail. One person, one account. By sending your first post you agree to the rules.
What belongs here. Your own experiences, questions and advice about cars, factual criticism and praise, and links that help to answer (an ad, a guide, an official source). New accounts may put one link in a post, others at most three. Start a thread in the right category and with a title that shows what it is about: "Octavia III 1.6 TDI, jerks when pulling away" helps more than "Please advise".
What does not belong here.
- insults, threats and hate speech;
- false statements about people and companies: keep what you know and can prove separate from what you think;
- other people's personal data, such as employees' names, phone numbers, addresses, photos of people or number plates in connection with a specific person (we hide phone numbers and e-mails in the text automatically);
- advertising, car sales and affiliate links, sell your car through your own ad;
- copied articles and text from other forums;
- spam, several accounts for one person, voting for yourself;
- anything unlawful, such as instructions for rolling back an odometer or getting around emissions rules.
Experiences with car dealers. Write only what you experienced with the seller yourself, and when it was (month and year is enough). Serious claims, such as a concealed accident or a deposit not returned, only if you can back them up. The seller has the right to reply and the reply stays next to your post. Removal of a post cannot be bought.
How to report a post. Every thread and post has a Report button. Choose a reason and add a note if you like. If three different users report a post, it is hidden automatically until we review it. Anyone can report unlawful content without an account through the form Report content, which also serves the companies and people concerned, for example a seller who is written about.
What moderation does. Posts are published immediately and we check them afterwards, based on reports. A post that breaks the rules is hidden or deleted and we tell the author why by e-mail. Repeated breaches mean a ban from posting. Disagree with a decision? Write to ahoj@carnado.eu within six months with a link to the post.
If anything about the rules is unclear, or you have suggestions for changing them, post them here in the thread.
